(pronounced sydtek!)

Sydtek is a feisty little scamp who enjoys talking shit to passersby and selling small-time boom to local school children. As far as storytelling goes, this plucky lass routinely lies to employers and government officials, occasionally entertaining friends with lewd comments and clown voices. Sydney is an avid writer; her pieces have been published in Harpers, the New Yorker, and Highlights Magazine. Her critically acclaimed novel "Bitches Ain't Got Shit on Me Revisited" is up for a Pulitzer prize. This featured storyteller is Big Kid Tested, Mother Fucker Approved.

Intimidated by the wild and talented storytellers you see onstage at Bawdy? Don’t be. These guys are good, but so are you. I’am always looking for new storytellers, and I usually announce the theme at least a month in advance of the event.

Check back regularly for the upcoming event’s theme, and enjoy the delicious torture that is having a tale to tell, and the thrill of sharing it with a roomful of kindred souls.

Here’s how you tell a story onstage at Bawdy:

Keep your story under ten minutes in length
It’s easy to get caught up in the punch line, and then you’re stuck with “…and so yeah, that happened”. Think “beginning, middle and end’.
If you’re new to this, rehearse it a time or two in front of at least one other person
No reading! But crib notes are OK.
If you name names in your story, change ‘elm. The Percy community is fairly small, after all
